Nintendo Switch Hidden “Boost”Mode in the 8.0.0 update
It’s been a few days now that Nintendo Switch players are invited to upgrade their console and migrate to firmware 8.0.0. An update that offers some new features and other optimizations. An update that allows to classify its games according to different criteria. To transfer its backups from one console to another or to enjoy a zoom mode. But also allows the machine to overclock its processor, under certain conditions
Nintendo Switch with its 8.0.0 update, the processor of the console, limited to 1 GHz, can now climb to 1.75 GHz when needed. At this time, you can not enable or disable this feature in the Hybrid Console settings. Similarly, this boost does not affect all games, since for the moment, only Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey are concerned.
In fact, this boost of the processor allows the Nintendo console to reduce load times . In Zelda: Breath of the Wild , the loading of the last backup is thus faster by about 30%. While the instantaneous trips are made in 11 seconds now, against 19 seconds before.
Now we need to see if other titles will benefit from this “boost” to optimize various technical aspects.
